Shadecrown - Agonia

"Agonia"

Release date: October 21st 2016

Country: Finland

Style: melodic death metal

Track list:
1. Eremophobia
2. Led Astray
3. Ghostlike Existence
4. Far Off Innocence
5. Walk Through Hell
6. Longing For Sleep
7. The Ruins Of Me
8. Tear-Stained Heart
9. Silent Hours
10. Drown

Vipassi stream first track of album debut

VIPASSI are unveiling the first track taken from their forthcoming album 'Sunyata'. The debut of the Australian instrumental collective featuring members of NE OBLIVISCARIS will be out in stores on January 20th.

The track "Benzaiten" is now exclusively streaming via Metalitalia

Regarding their track, VIPASSI comment: "Benzaiten is the goddess of everything that flows: water, time, words, speech, eloquence, music and by extension, knowledge. 'Benzaiten' also happens to be the very first track composed by VIPASSI, which kick-started and affirmed our sound as well as the direction of our journey with this project, acting almost as a mission statement; honouring our love for extreme music and melody, capturing the ebb and flow of everything that inspires us to create. So it is fitting it be the first piece released through our new home at Season of Mist."

SUMA - The Order of Things

"The Order of Things"

Release Date: October 11th, 2016

CountrySweden

Style: Sludge Doom Metal

Track List:
1. The Sick Present
2. Bait for Maggots
3. R P A
4. Being and/or Nothingness
5. Education for Death
6. Disorder of Things
7. The Greater Dying

Tracklist:
1. Presentation: Under The Willow
2. Like A Giant In A Cage

7. Handful Of Stars (New Version)

13.The Last Hero

Già da "Show Me A Leader" la band di Orlando ci trascina in un alternative rock che attinge a piene mani dalla migliore scuola statunitense, con ritmi travolgenti e parole sin da subito affilate come lame, che personalmente trovo anche molto condivisibili: Well they're selling another messiah here tonight, But we're all way too numb and divided to buy it, che si trasformano in una sorta di rabbiosa preghiera nel ritornello, in grado di scavare come acqua nella roccia, rimanendo ben impresso nella mente: Show me a leader that won't compromise, Show me a leader so hope never dies, We need a hero this time... ecco, sarà anche per via dei recenti scandali politici made in USA proprio a ridosso delle elezioni presidenziali, mi permetto di aggiungere che, visti i candidati, mi sa che sto pezzo ci starebbe a pennello...
Mi permetto di trascrivere una parte del testo: And the writing's on the wall, That the end will begin, Still you do nothing at all, And keep denying the greatest sin, Ignore the truth and follow, Reap all that you sow, Spawn the future sorrow, we will know, Refusing every warning, Deny the rate of change, The ignorance is swarming, what a shame, And you know that you're to blame, You're to blame... che dire, a mio modesto parere, sinceramente si potrebbe dedicarla a gran voce alla maggior parte se non alla totalità dei rappresentanti politici del nostro Paese...

You're insane, Have you gone too far? Who's to blame, For what you are? If you believe yours is the only way, Then you're the fool who lives to die, Well you deserve the Hell, you're gonna pay, On the other side, Once you reach the other side...
E' il momento in cui l'eroe ha bisogno di un grande incoraggiamento, il momento in cui è chiamato a superare il fallimento, cercando di vederlo come uno spunto per crescere e migliorarsi, senza auto commiserazione, senza mai gettare la spugna: Sometimes you fall before you rise, Sometimes you lose it all to find, You've gotta keep fighting, And get back up again, Oh, my champion, You've lost so many times it hurts, But failures made are lessons learned, Cause in the end what you are will be much more, Than you were... parole che, in realtà, potremmo fare in parte anche nostre, per le piccole e grandi battaglie quotidiane che ci tocca affrontare, per quelle giornate in cui ci sentiamo k.o., per tutte le porte che ci hanno sbattuto in faccia, per tutte le volte che siamo caduti e ci siamo rialzati, per quella parte di noi che continua eroicamente ad andare avanti, nonostante tutto.

From the cradle to the grave, It's a fear I can't escape, Who will be my hiding place, When you're gone? There's no way to deny, The brevity of life, As time keeps marching on, All we have is lost...
Are you finally losing patience? We can't fight this on our own, Who'll save us in the end, Have we lost our last hero? Have we reached the end? Are we last to know? Are we still afraid? Nowhere left to go No, it's much too late, There's no hope to see, There is still a chance left, For you and me...

A voi l'ardua sentenza. Rock' on!

HIGH FIGHTER RELEASE BRAND NEW VIDEO!

The Hamburg based 5-piece sludge and stoner metal band has just returned from a quick tour with Elder in October, a busy festival summer with live appearances at such as Summer Breeze Festival, Desertfest Berlin, Up in Smoke and alongside many more shows and tours around Europe in 2016, with their first and critically acclaimed debut album 'Scars & Crosses', which came out this summer on Svart Records, HIGH FIGHTER have just released a brand new video for the album track 'Darkest Days'!

In the typical High Fighter manner, this new video comes like the previous visual works of the band, in a 100% DIY-production. Fuzzy, dark, lots of headbanging and with a wild soundmix of bluesy stoner riffs, screams you will feel to your bone and some heavy sludge tunes, get on your next trip with High Fighter right HERE:

Mona Miluski, vocalist of the band, explains: “Since we're releasing this video today, exactly two years ago when we unveiled the band to public & released our first EP that day, so many great moments, shows, new friends and experiences followed for us, I see this new video for 'Darkest Days' as some cool and trippin summary. Of two more than amazing years of our short and young band history already. Our bassist Constantin again did such great job on the video! He edited it all by himself and it's again a pure do-it-yourself production. We used several live footage from our shows the past two years, and took some behind the scenes from tours & when we've been on the road...It's a very dark track and video but also visually weird, wild and psychedelic on the other hand. But that's what you get with High Fighter and on our album 'Scars & Crosses' in general: It's not an easy-listening record, it's more of a trip, and there's also a lot of pain and beauty happening to the same time. Chosing the track 'Darkest Days' for a new video of High Fighter has only been a matter of course, soundwise, we all dig that song, from the lyrics' perspective and its representation of our album vibe, but then this heavy contrast which comes with the visual footage of two awesome years with High Fighter. Seems we love contrasts!“

High Fighter have just formed in the Summer of 2014, but with their volatile cocktail of heavy as hell riffs, the blues and these deadly schizophrenic vocals, the band already offer something new to the sludge, blues, doom and stoner metal scene. After their ciritically acclaimed debut EP 'The Goat Ritual' (2014), followed by numerous shows all over Europe and the UK, including festivals, gigs and tours with bands such as Ahab, Mammoth Storm, Crowbar, Corrosion of Conformity, The Midnight Ghost Train, Earth Ship and many more, High Fighter have just released their first full length album 'Scars & Crosses' on June 10th 2016 on Svart Records.

Crippled Black Phoenix premiere complete new album

CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX are now streaming their complete forthcoming album 'Bronze', which has been scheduled for release on November 4th.

'Bronze' is exclusively being premiered by RUMORE

Mastermind Justin Greaves comments: "Releasing an album is a weird experience, both excitement and trepidation fill the mind, With 'Bronze' however, it is mostly the former. I am proud of what we have achieved. The album represents a shift towards a stronger future and a big two finger salute to the past couple of years of upheaval. It finds CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX sounding at our best in both production values and pure feeling within the music. So, the old cliche of 'what doesn’t kill you, only makes you stronger' is definitely applicable in this case. Although 'Bronze' is not the most ambitious album CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX have ever made, it in fact surpasses that by being full of emotions, much like the 'No Sadness Or Farewell' or even 'I,Vigilante'. Yet do not think it is backwards looking. That is simply not in our DNA - instead it reflects the vibe and situation, we find ourselves in the present and that in turn shows the future is going to be an interesting journey. This time it is feelings and raw sound that powers the album even in the more 'progressive' sounding songs. It is slightly more heavy, a little darker, but as honest as CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX gets. This is what is important to us these days in an age where music is generally full of cheap tricks and trendy marketing."

Monolith Wielder - Interview

Interview by Margherita Realmonte (MEG)

MONOLITH WIELDER are a quartet made up of several veterans of the Pittsburgh music scene. This month they will release new album for italian label Argonauta Records.

Their guitarist Justin Gizzi and singer/guitarist Gero von Dehn (Von Dane/Zom), gave us this interesting chat.

LFdM: Let's start from a brief introduction of each one of you. Howwould you describe Monolith Wielder to those who still don'tknow your band?
Justin: Hi, you have Gero von Dehn (guitar & vocals) and Justin Gizzi (guitar) answering questions today. I'd describe us as a heavy band with doom, stoner, grunge and classic rock influences. Some songs are cut and dry, some are more of a melting pot.

LFdM: Why this name for the band? Has it some hidden meaning?
Justin:  I used "monolith-wielding" to describe Saint Vitus's sound in a bio I wrote for the Obsessed, referencing when Wino joined up with Vitus. It was on a MySpace fan page I'd made for The Obsessed, so this was quite a few years back. I thought "monolith wielder" would be a good name for a doom band, and finally got the chance to use it. It's really a bit tongue-in-cheek, over the top, you know? But some folks have mentioned that they think it suits our sound, so it's working so far.

LFdM: How would you describe your new release, the self titled albumMonolith Wielder?
von Dehn:  This is doomy heaviness with stoner grooves but I think there is much more to the story.  We really tried to write not just killer riffs but great songs.  I love good ol' fashioned rock n' roll so I'm still a sucker for hooks and a chorus that you want to sing along with. We all have different musical backgrounds and when you use a bit of each you can really create something original. That has really allowed us to find what I think, is a unique direction.

LFdM: Is there a song of yours you feel closer to? If there is one, wouldyou like to tell us the reason why?

von Dehn: I'd probably give you a different answer every day depending on my mood but I'll go with "Chains" today. Lyrically I really dug into a tough period in my head to find relief. But musically, it just slams.  I like to write songs that not only sound good but are a blast to play.  I'm selfish that way.  The same goes for "Best Intentions".  I've been at this a while but I still like to bang away on an open E chord through stacks.  Or in our case a G# chord but you get my drift.

LFdM: I had the chance to listen to this album and I have to say that Ilike it. I appreciated a lot: Illumination, No Hope No Fear,Monolith Wielder and King Under Fire. Can you tell us somethingin particular about these songs?
Justin: Thank you! I've been in this other heavy band called Molasses Barge, since 2008, and we get to do a lot of cool shows and it's a fun band, but we're sometimes limited with everyone's schedules- jobs, kids, other bands, ex-wives, etc. One afternoon, after having to turn down a good show offer, I just started thinking maybe it might be a good time to get another heavy band going. I ended up writing the music for Monolith Wielder, Illumination, King Under Fire, and Lift Your Eyes all that afternoon. A bit irregular for me, I normally don't write in a burst like that. No Hope No Fear is one of Gero's, I like that one a lot because it has a cool Obsessed vibe to it.

LFdM: Which songs of the new album do you think would work betterlive?
von Dehn: We often open our sets with the song "Monolith Wielder" and that really sets the tone.  It's a great way to break the ice and introduce ourselves properly.  "Angels Hide" seems to get the room going too with it's doomy, grinding intro before blazing down the final stretch.

LFdM: How does the songwriting process work in your band?
Justin: Well, for the album, as I mentioned earlier I'd wrote those four songs at once there, and threw in Electric Hessian, which was something I'd written years prior. I flagged down Ben, and then Gero, and luckily for me they were both interested in getting together. Unfortunately, Ben's father was terminally ill at the time, so Gero and I got started learning each other's songs. Later, the drummer from Molasses Barge, Wayne, jammed with us so we could get some rough recordings together, sketch the songs out a bit more. Once Ben was able to join us he contributed right away, putting his touch on the songs. He plays open handed, and does some things particular to him, so they took on a different feel right away. With our new batch of songs, Gero and I have both come up with some riffs and rough structures, and we all work together to iron them out. Gero has written just about all of the lyrics.

LFdM: Concerning the lyrics, where do you find inspiration for yoursongs?
von Dehn: I try to look for inspiration in various places, be it in my own emotional headspace or in something I've been thinking about.  I usually don't have a clue what I'm going to write about lyrically until I sit down with a pencil and paper.  When I write lyrics they almost always come after the music is already down.  The music is my main inspiration for the lyrical direction, not vise versa.

LFdM: What about your music heroes when you were younger?
von Dehn: All of us would probably give you a different answer but I still have those monumental figures in my mind from my youth.  Being introduced to a couple of Black Sabbath albums as an eleven year old changed my entire life in one day so they always remain at the top.  My teenage years thereafter were a typical haze of Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, AC/DC and early Metallica.  I saw all of those bands in concert countless times.

LFdM: Is there a band or a musician you would love to work with, both live or in the studio?
Justin: We were fortunate enough to have Jack Endino master our album, I wouldn't mind going out to Seattle and recording with him if we had the opportunity. I think Mike Dean from Corrosion of Conformity would be another good guy for us to work with.

LFdM: Is there a band you've been often compared to, but you'd prefer not to?
von Dehn: Fortunately, it's been difficult for people to compare us to other bands.  Sure, we have a sound that is familiar at it's core but I think we have enough variables that steer us into a new territory.  We'd much rather be good at our thing than great at sounding like someone else.

LFdM: When you are not recording or touring how do you spend yourspare time?
Justin: I think we all enjoy getting out to see other bands play. We all have pretty steady jobs that take up a good bit of our time. For example Ben handles shipping and receiving for a big motorsports company, and Gero does play-by-play broadcasting for various sports teams here locally and in Alaska a few months a year too. I play in multiple bands, at times up to 6 or 7, so I don't get much down time.

LFdM: Did you plan an extensive world tour?
Justin: Not yet. We're still somewhat in the beginning stages of the band. We'll see how the release does, and go from there.

LFdM: Do you think you'll manage to come to play in Italy one day?
Justin: We would love to! Time will tell on that one. Thank you for interviewing us, we really do appreciate any support we get.
