CHURCH OF VOID: LIVE EP OUT NOW ON ARGONAUTA RECORDS!

Hailing from the barren wasteland of Finland, their relentless live activity put CHURCH OF VOID once and for all on the map as one of the biggest hopes in Scandinavian doom. Founded in 2010 by vocalist Magus Corvus and G. Funeral (Ex-Horna, Battlelore), the band’s first sign of life was the limited EP run 'Winter Is Coming'. After a 2013 LP, released by Finland´s own Svart Records, and a handful of split releases, CHURCH OF VOID have found a new home in Italy's powerhouse label Argonauta Records, who released the band's self-titled and critically acclaimed 2017 album. Drawing influences from the traditional doom such as Saint Vitus and Pentagram as well as grim rockers alike Mana Mana, The Birthday Party or Babylon Whores, CHURCH OF VOID blend their music into upbeat killers, slow-as-snail crushers and vintage hard rock. Today, the five-piece unit has released their 'Live In Europe' EP via Argonauta Records, it's out now on all digital platforms!

Says the band: „Through the years shows of Church of Void have been giving the audience entertainment mixed with confusion while sexual allure and the threat of violence have been hiding beneath. Always giving all we have, shows of CoV are never similar to each other. Now that we are focusing on our forthcoming material and thus playing just one exclusive festival gig in November, the Live in Europe - EP gives a small glimpse of Church of Void's live sound for those who haven't witness our live rites in the past. In the near future we will re-visit our hard-to-find back catalogue as well as producing a 3rd album. Hopefully as many as possible will be able to witness and feel us live as we're just about to enter yet another new stage of the band!“

Alestorm + Skalmold live report

ALESTORM + SKALMOLD + SAILING TO NOWHERE

Clamoroso sold-out al Dagda club per gli Alestorm, a conferma della crescente popolarità raggiunta dal quintetto scozzese negli ultimi anni. D’altra parte nulla è meglio dell’heavy metal caciarone, goliardico e “alcolico” degli Alestorm per scaldare un freddo venerdì sera di fine novembre.

Purtroppo causa impegni di lavoro giungiamo al Dagda in clamoroso ritardo, quando l’esibizione dei romani Sailing To Nowhere, che aprivano la serata, è ormai conclusa.

Ci godiamo invece gli Skalmold, esperta band islandese che finalmente inizia ad essere conosciuta anche alle nostre latitudini. Il loro viking metal dominato da cori possenti e da 3 chitarre è efficace anche in sede live, e il pubblico dimostra di apprezzare. Tra i brani eseguiti ci sono anche due estratti da “Sorgir”, quinto lavoro, publicato da poche settimane.

Infine, alle 22,30 circa, è il momento degli Alestorm. Si inizia con “Keelhauled”, seguita in rapida successione da “Alestorm” e “Magnetic North”. Il parterre, già surriscaldato, si scatena letteralmente e il sottoscritto (che non ha più il fisico per pogare…) è costretto a retrocedere di parecchi metri! 

Oltre ad un sound trascinante il quintetto scozzese ha una simpatia e una capacità di interagire con il pubblico davvero unica, siparietti comici e battute si sprecano, come quando Christopher Bowes, presentando “Bar Und Imbiss”, proclama “this song is about killing germans…”. Le songs si susseguono senza un attimo di sosta, tra anthems pirateschi e inni alcolici, e il culmine viene raggiunto con “Hangover”, in cui viene invitato sul palco un corpulento individuo (presumo un roadie) che, dopo essersi scolato due birre “di rigore” si schiaccia una lattina in fronte!

Il concerto si chiude con “Drink”, “Wolves Of The Sea” (con i suoi caratteristici cori pirateschi) e “Fucked With An Anchor”, il brano più folcloristico e goliardico del lotto.

Davvero una bella serata, complimenti alle bands, agli organizzatori e ai gestori del Dagda club!

Luca Turilli e Fabio Lione si riuniscono come TURILLI / LIONE RHAPSODY e lanciano una campagna di crowdfunding

I membri originari degli RHAPSODY, LUCA TURILLI e FABIO LIONE, uniscono nuovamente le forze per registrare un nuovo album a nome Turilli / Lione RHAPSODY. È la prima volta in otto anni che i due realizzano di nuovo della musica assieme. Fanno parte della line-up anche gli ex membri dei RHAPSODY Dominique Leurquin, Patrice Guers e Alex Holzwarth.

Nel 2017 Luca e Fabio hanno suonato dal vivo assieme nel RHAPSODY’s 20th Anniversary Farewell Tour che li ha visti portare sul palco i grandi classici dei RHAPSODY. Dopo la chiusura del loro capitolo RHAPSODY e lo scioglimento dei Luca Turilli’s RHAPSODY, i due amici si sono messi alla ricerca di un modo creativo, originale e innovativo per esprimere la loro visione artistica. Luca e Fabio hanno quindi iniziato a visualizzare la loro nuova collaborazione. Così hanno dato vita a una nuova generazione di symphonic metal, arricchito dagli elementi moderni delle produzioni musicali che amano così tanto. L’eccitazione per il loro progetto è cresciuta a tal punto, giorno dopo giorno, da spingerli a realizzare la loro visione sotto un nuovo e chiaro nome: “Turilli / Lione RHAPSODY”.

La band entrerà in studio quest’inverno per registrare il debutto. Per finanziare il disco è stata lanciata una campagna di crowdfunding.

Nei meandri dell’ermetismo mentale di Bard Oberon, nasce il progetto Oberon, un artista criptico e complesso che unisce spiritualità gnostica alla volontà di esplorare il processo interiore del destino umano.

Brani come "Lost Souls" e "Walk In Twilight" creano elettrocuzioni oscure che si mescolando ai synth neo-folk creando così ombre inquietanti e malinconiche che attingono in pieno al rock di fine anni ottanta.

I testi trovano la propria dimora tra il neo classicismo della seconda metà del settecento e la tentacolare filosofia del rosacrocianesimo, un connubio tra intelletto e forza fisica ben disegnato dalle chitarre elettriche.

Tecnicamente "Aeon Chaser" è un disco che ha più l’urgenza di essere suonato che la pazienza di essere ascoltato, un inno alla consacrazione di un Dio superiore alla quale solo le vibrazioni della musica possono rapportarsi ed eventualmente sottoporsi.

Intenso oltre misura.

Misery Index unveil cover artwork and announce European tour

MISERY INDEX have revealed the cover artwork and track list of their upcoming album 'Rituals of Power'! The new album is slated for release om March 08, 2019 via Season of Mist. 

The band comment on the album: "'Rituals of Power' is a disavowal and warning against the consequences of our so-called 'post-truth' age. Each of the 9 songs revolves loosely around this theme, yet each track also stands very much on its own. As an album however, they are all brought to life as one ‘reanimated’ monster; it’s roughly 35 minutes of unhinged, yet cohesive, riff-driven aural ballistics. We were pissed off and on fire during both the writing and recording, and we think it shows in spades. We set out to write the best album we could, based on what we would want to hear first as fans of this music, and we could not be happier."

HIGH FIGHTER signs with ARGONAUTA RECORDS! New album coming in the Spring of 2019!

Hamburg-based Sludge and Stoner Metal unit HIGH FIGHTER have signed a worldwide deal with Italian label ARGONAUTA RECORDS. Currently putting together the final songwriting touches, the band's hotly anticipated second album will be released in the Spring of 2019!

Says Argonauta's CEO Gero Lucisano:

"Today I'm beyond stoked to welcome HIGH FIGHTER in the Argonauta family. I remember how their album "Scars & Crosses" has been on heavy rotation here in our head-quarters for many months, and still is an "evergreen" listening these days. Moreover, thanks to the fact they are an hard working band always on tour, I got the chance to see them on stage, where I saw a captivating band with an uncontrollable energy, top professional attitude and awareness of their own means.
