Il termine “heavy” può essere applicato a molti generi musicali diversi e in molti contesti differenti. Negli ultimi trent’anni il musicista svedese PER WIBERG si è guadagnato da vivere suonando principalmente musica pesante. Un polistrumentista che ha suonato tastiere, basso e chitarre con un nutrito numero di band e artisti come Opeth, Spiritual Beggars, Candlemass, oltre a Clutch / Bakerton Group, Switchblade e Kamchatka solo per citarne alcuni.

“Sono felice di annunciare che Despotz Records pubblicherà il mio primo album solista nel 2019. Questo disco è stato in lavorazione per un bel po’ di tempo e sono rimasto piacevolmente sorpreso nel sapere che Despotz ha avuto la meglio. Per me non sono degli sconosciuti, poiché la mia band Kamchatka era su Despotz. Si sono espansi da allora e hanno un roster piuttosto vario oggi e sono molto appassionati. Sono fermamente convinto che sia necessario lavorare con persone che vogliono davvero lavorare con te, il che significa che la base della relazione è la musica vera e propria e non una collaborazione forzata. Pertanto, ovviamente sono molto felice di vedere che c'è un sincero interesse nel mio album qui alla Despotz e non vedo l'ora di lavorare insieme su questo mio primo viaggio. BATTLE BEAST – pubblica il nuovo album in studio "No More Hollywood Endings" il 22 marzo 2019!

Un paio di mesi fa gli heavy metaller finlandesi BATTLE BEAST hanno annunciato un tour da headliner europeo di sei settimane nella primavera 2019, con gli ARION come supporto. Oggi il sestetto svela maggiori dettagli sul nuovo album in studio, che verrà presentato durante il succitato tour. Intitolato “No More Hollywood Endings”, verrà pubblicato il 22 marzo su Nuclear Blast Records! Le undici canzoni sono state registrate dal tastierista Janne Björkroth con Viktor Gullichsen e il chitarrista Joona Björkroth al JKB Studio. Il lavoro è stato prodotto e mixato da Janne. L’artwork è stato realizzato da Jan Yrlund (KORPIKLAANI, MANOWAR ecc.), che si era già occupato di quello di “Bringer Of Pain”.

Janne ha affermato: "Le canzoni pesante sono ancora più pesanti, gli elementi pop brillano maggiormente, le parti rock sono più potenti e il suono è più ricco che mai. La scala emozionale è più ampia e ogni cosa è più magniloquente. Rimanete sintonizzati per il 2019!”.

SWALLOW THE SUN: ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM, EPIC SINGLE AND NEW MEMBERS

Finnish melancholy death-doom metal band SWALLOW THE SUN will release new album “When A Shadow Is Forced Into The Light” on January 25th, 2019 through Century Media Records, and announced that Jaani Peuhu and Juho Räihä are now official members.

Tomorrow the band will release 14-minutes epic single track called “Lumina Aurea”:

Fueled by personal loss (the album title has its origins in Trees of Eternity's “Broken Mirror”) and powered by the will to continue, “When A Shadow Is Forced Into The Light” showcases the group’s ability to maintain its signature sound while expanding upon horizons and diving deeper into the crevasse of doom-death metal. Even though the single and the album are conceptually connected, they are musically completely different. While “Lumina Aurea” - featuring Wardruna’s Einar Selvik and The Foreshadowing’s Marco I. Benevento - marks the band’s darkest and most sinister piece of music the band has ever released, “When A Shadow Is Forced Into The Light” follows a more positive approach and continues in the vein of previous albums – first-rate death-doom in the typical style of SWALLOW THE SUN.

Il quinto album dei CORRODED 'Bitter' verrà pubblicato il 25 gennaio su Despotz Records.

Hailing from the barren wasteland of Finland, their relentless live activity put CHURCH OF VOID once and for all on the map as one of the biggest hopes in Scandinavian doom. Luca Turilli e Fabio Lione si riuniscono come TURILLI / LIONE RHAPSODY e lanciano una campagna di crowdfunding

I membri originari degli RHAPSODY, LUCA TURILLI e FABIO LIONE, uniscono nuovamente le forze per registrare un nuovo album a nome Turilli / Lione RHAPSODY. È la prima volta in otto anni che i due realizzano di nuovo della musica assieme. Fanno parte della line-up anche gli ex membri dei RHAPSODY Dominique Leurquin, Patrice Guers e Alex Holzwarth.

Nel 2017 Luca e Fabio hanno suonato dal vivo assieme nel RHAPSODY’s 20th Anniversary Farewell Tour che li ha visti portare sul palco i grandi classici dei RHAPSODY. Dopo la chiusura del loro capitolo RHAPSODY e lo scioglimento dei Luca Turilli’s RHAPSODY, i due amici si sono messi alla ricerca di un modo creativo, originale e innovativo per esprimere la loro visione artistica. Luca e Fabio hanno quindi iniziato a visualizzare la loro nuova collaborazione. Così hanno dato vita a una nuova generazione di symphonic metal, arricchito dagli elementi moderni delle produzioni musicali che amano così tanto. L’eccitazione per il loro progetto è cresciuta a tal punto, giorno dopo giorno, da spingerli a realizzare la loro visione sotto un nuovo e chiaro nome: “Turilli / Lione RHAPSODY”.

La band entrerà in studio quest’inverno per registrare il debutto. Per finanziare il disco è stata lanciata una campagna di crowdfunding.

The band comment on the album: "'Rituals of Power' is a disavowal and warning against the consequences of our so-called 'post-truth' age. Each of the 9 songs revolves loosely around this theme, yet each track also stands very much on its own. As an album however, they are all brought to life as one ‘reanimated’ monster; it’s roughly 35 minutes of unhinged, yet cohesive, riff-driven aural ballistics. We were pissed off and on fire during both the writing and recording, and we think it shows in spades. We set out to write the best album we could, based on what we would want to hear first as fans of this music, and we could not be happier."

HIGH FIGHTER signs with ARGONAUTA RECORDS! New album coming in the Spring of 2019!

Hamburg-based Sludge and Stoner Metal unit HIGH FIGHTER have signed a worldwide deal with Italian label ARGONAUTA RECORDS. Currently putting together the final songwriting touches, the band's hotly anticipated second album will be released in the Spring of 2019!

Says Argonauta's CEO Gero Lucisano:

"Today I'm beyond stoked to welcome HIGH FIGHTER in the Argonauta family. I remember how their album "Scars & Crosses" has been on heavy rotation here in our head-quarters for many months, and still is an "evergreen" listening these days. ‘Ethic Of Radical Finitude’ is the international quartet’s most melodic, most structured and most dynamic release to date, once more building upon the epic and unique sludgy, crusty, exploratory metallic sound that has organically evolved with every release. “It combines elements from our earlier releases with the path we took on ‘Atrophy’ (2016),” states guitarist/vocalist Dominik Goncalves dos Reis. “There are long atmospheric parts with enough time to breathe, enough time to unfold, and on the other side there are harsh and melodic blastbeats. Each song is some kind of journey, with emotional ups and downs.”

THE 69 EYES augurano Buone Feste dallo studio e si preparano per il 30° anniversario della band!

 

I vampiri goth'n'roll di Helsinki THE 69 EYES sono attualmente impegnati negli ultimi ritocchi al loro dodicesimo album in studio previsto per la primavera 2019. Il disco ancora senza titolo è stato registrato con il produttore di lunga data Johnny Lee Michaels nella loro città natale.

Giusto in tempo per festeggiare il proprio 30° anniversario, il leggendario quintetto finlandese ha unito le proprie forze per forgiare un’altra pietra miliare, che vede la partecipazione di svariati ospiti di livello, con in aggiunta un DVD in cui non manca la tradizionale atmosfera di rock'n'roll gotico.

Un tour mondiale è attualmente in lavorazione e maggiori dettagli verranno svelati a breve, con ulteriori informazioni su come i THE 69 EYES trasformeranno il 2019 in un anno di festeggiamenti.

Il cantante Jyrki 69 nel frattempo invia i suoi auguri di Buone Feste ai fan, dichiarando: “Vogliamo festeggiare consegnando sangu… ehm musica fresca ai nostri fan! Ci prepariamo anche ad andare in tour per più anni, quindi aspettateci in Paesi e continenti da cui manchiamo da tempo…”.
