Tempo di strenne natalizie in casa Hammerfall, che in occasione del ventennale di “Legacy Of Kings” ne pubblicano una lussuosa ristampa rimasterizzata, con un cd e un dvd aggiuntivi.

Legacy Of Kings è probabilmente il lavoro più riuscito degli svedesi, una collezione di songs in cui il loro power-epic metal si esprime al meglio, tra anthems fieri e belligeranti (la title-track, “Heeding The Call”), rimandi ad Helloween (“Dreamland”), Accept (“Let The Hammer Fall”), Manowar (“At The End Of The Rainbow”) e ballate romantiche (“Remember Yesterday”, perché anche i guerrieri hanno un cuore!). Pompatissimo all’epoca (ricordo numerose recensioni da 5 stelle sui magazines nazionali) in realtà “Legacy Of Kings” non può competere con i classici del genere, è semplicemente un ottimo lavoro power metal, godibilissimo ancora oggi, e non è poco.

Il cd aggiuntivo si apre con 3 cover, comparse ai tempi solo su singoli e in alcuni tribute albums: ottime “Eternal Dark” (Picture) e “Man On The Silver Mountain” (Rainbow), superflua “I Want Out” (Helloween), praticamente uguale all’originale, in cui comunque appare come ospite Kay Hansen.

Seguono 6 brani dal vivo in cui gli Hammerfall appaiono in ottima forma, ascoltare ad esempio la trascinante versione di “Let The Hammer Fall” registrata in Brasile nel 2017.

Chiudono il secondo cd alcune demo versions obiettivamente inutili, dalla qualità audio assai carente, in particolare per le parti vocali di Cans appena appena udibili.

Infine il dvd propone una serie di registrazioni live dell’epoca, tratte da vari concerti in U.S.A., Svezia, Svizzera, Cile e Giappone.

Il piatto è ricco, anche per chi ha già la versione originale, per cui chi vuole farsi un bel regalo di Natale si accomodi!
